Bear Blog question challenge
This questionnaire was originally made by Ava.
1. Why did you make the blog in the first place?
I wanted to have a dedicated space for my written pieces and curated links around the Internet world. Although I have been blogging since 2020, I felt like my writings were not enough in a swarm of SEO-fuelled crap. So, I got inspired by the concept of personal web (or indie web), where I can read human-made posts from other bloggers. Thanks to them, I slowly returned to that hobby in this privacy-friendly realm.
2. Why did you choose Bearblog?
Because I like how it focuses more on words and less on bloat. I also like how customizable both the blog layout and the dashboard. This feels like a personalized space for me.
3. Have you blogged on other platforms before?
Yes, on Blogger and WriteFreely. I already wrote about the reasons why I left those blogging realms.
4. Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?
Yes. Well, I often utilize the in-house editor as I find it easy to draft and publish my posts regardless of the device. Sometimes, I would use Obsidian only on my tablet and then copy-paste my words in the editor.
5. When do you feel most inspired to write?
Whenever I have a good topic in my mind, I would write during my downtime. The time and location do not matter, as long as they are paired with a quiet and/or chill ambiance.
6. Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
The former, most of the time. But if I feel like my final draft is lacking in any aspect (like word count and topical depth), then I would leave it for a bit so that I can refine it in my own terms.
7. Your favorite post on your blog?
Musically unwrapped. I think that it feels personal given the current state of music streaming services.
8. Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?
Although this realmlet is always a work in progress, it has major plans that may be fulfilled at some point:
- Catch up with my backlog of old posts and then retrofit them if needed.
- Write some deep dives about my favorite stuff, especially those that barely have any presence on the indie web.
- Insert some code and images to my posts (when I get a lifetime subscription here).
- Add more themes based on this site's layout and seasonal colors.
