Loreleice's Virtual Writing Pad

Blog upgrades

I finally have a lifetime subscription here on Bear Blog! Thankfully, I paid 50% less than the original price for that since I live in the Philippines.1 That means that I can get the same upgrades (like custom domain and embedded images) as someone who pays the full amount.

Custom domain

Loreleice's Virtual Writing Pad can now be reached via https://blog.loreleice.net/ (which is my preferred domain here). Of course, it still has the old domain of https://loreleice.bearblog.dev/ since it is hosted here on Bear Blog. Feel free to use either of these domains if you want to link me in your personal website.

Embedded images

This space now supports images within this realm. However, it will not use any WebP images for both personal and security reasons.2

Tip

On the Media page on your dashboard, check Upload raw before putting any images there! That way, you can get the intended file format (like JPEG) instead of the dreaded WebP one.

Anyway, here is a sample image from my DSLR camera:

A photo of jungle geraniums.

A photo of jungle geraniums (Ixora coccinea), also known as santan in Filipino. Taken with my Nikon D3000 digital camera (with the attached AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G II ED lens).

Future plans

There will be posts that feature images at some point. This will be the case for those about visual arts (especially digital illustration and pixel art) and travelling.

There might be some HTML and JavaScript within this space. Even this post has embedded HTML codes! (Just feel free to spot them.)

After five months of blogging here, I have become comfortable with simplicity and customization of this realm. I guess that I am enjoying my time here in this small writing pad (on top of my personal realmlet) on the indie web.

  1. Ah, yes... We have a rather weak currency there, especially when compared against the U.S. dollar. Thank goodness, Bear Blog considers the purchasing power parity for places with less powerful currencies. Regional pricing for the win!

  2. Since WebP is developed by Google, it gets a hard pass for me.
