Collaborating within the open web
I have contributed to other people's creative projects before. Back then, I would join art collabs within walled gardens (especially Instagram and Discord) and strive to finish my entries on time. Although I enjoy collaborating with other artists there, I feel that I should branch out from my siloed experiences and join more collaborative events within the open web.
Since I am now active on this side of the Internet world (particularly on Bear Blog and Nekoweb), I want to prioritize more on collabs that make use of personal websites and blogs. Thank goodness, there are regular events (like the Bear Blog and IndieWeb Carnivals) for showcasing personal musings and interests.
Perhaps, I can find another art collab within the indie web. I think that zines and code jams are a great way to share my creative skills (like writing and drawing) on top of webweaving.
Aside from collabs, I am still interested in standalone art challenges (especially DTIYS). Thankfully, I can search for those events on Cara and Artfol easily. Maybe I should use those events in case of an impending creative block.1
Speaking of that, I want to join two DTIYS events soon. I will not reveal what those events are until I post my illustrations on the hosts' preferred realms.↩
