Loreleice's Virtual Writing Pad

Revisiting my creative goals from 2025

The text in the excerpt has been slightly modified for style.

Back when I published on WriteFreely, I shared five creative goals on 2025. These were focused on my creative project backlog and my plans as a carefree adventurer on the Internet world. However, I joined less art challenges1 than last year.

Here is the excerpt from my now-deleted post2 from dotart.blog:

1. Release a new digital sticker pack. While I have already finished my sticker pack inspired by a past art challenge, I just need to make some profiles and reference sheets for my future original characters.

2. Set up a personal website. I started becoming interested in personal websites because of Neocities, IndieWeb, and other realms dedicated to hobbyist website creation. Since I got inspired by other people's work on their online spaces, I decided to handicraft my future virtual home and do some side research about personal websites. Although I still have a Carrd page as my main home, I will probably relegate that website to a simple link directory for my official platforms.

3. Migrate my blogging activities to Hugo. Another moving arc incoming? I will consider self-hosting my blog at some point. Also, I am slowly archiving my blog posts from Blogger and WriteFreely for my future writing space.

4. Get accepted into INPRNT. Although I tried to apply there one time, I feel like I still need more time for personal illustrations. One application per quarter should be enough to enter the realm for art prints.

5. Open some commissions. That one has been my recurring goal! Once I finish my creative project backlog, I can set up a dedicated commissions page via Carrd and design some social media images for this creative goal.

Only the first three goals were accomplished this year.

The first one was supposed to be a standalone sticker pack, but it was gradually transitioned into a poem collection named C'est Ravi. This creative project comes with character profiles and reference sheets for both Séra Lécuyer and Beau Fontaine. The e-book and digital sticker pack can be downloaded for free on LorelOCs. (Hoping for more creative projects to be rescued from the development hell...)

The second one was related to the Web Revival movement, in which anyone is encouraged to be open and creative in the Internet world. Now that my personal website is open and hosted at Nekoweb, it becomes my primary domain on the web. (Also, my Carrd page is now a simple link directory, not a full-blown website.)

The third one was partially completed as the migration happened here on Bear Blog instead of Hugo. No wonder I did not self-host a blog (which should have been powered by that static site generator), so I stayed in this calming realm instead. (Thank you, Herman!)

The last two goals were not successful, though. Potential moneymaking did not push through, I guess... Maybe I could achieve these on my personal website next year?

  1. DTIYS (Draw This in Your Style), art collabs, and year-long illustration prompts. All of these were a staple for 2024, which was hectic for my creative schedule.

  2. Focusing on personal projects, originally published on January 11, 2025
