Loreleice's Virtual Writing Pad

Slight rebranding

This post was originally published on Blogger. It has been slightly modified for accessibility and updated information.

I have been on the Internet for a while, and I have managed several accounts before this one on various creative platforms. But then, I prioritized both academic and personal lives first, leaving my hobbyist creative career on an indefinite break. When I finished my university studies right before the pandemic, I came back to unleash my creative side through digital art and creative writing online.

Hoping to reach an audience and create impact on the digital landscape, I started posting digital illustrations and creative writing pieces on social media on 2020. Back when I was thinking of a decent username for my socials, I wanted to incorporate an original character who loves art. So, I decided to use Lori Manggahan Holland as a basis for my original username (lhollandarts), which I have used from 2020 to 2023.

Four years have passed. I felt like my brand needed some touch-ups, so I decided to change some elements across official platforms. Some of those elements include my username, motto, motif, and persona.

Username

I like Pokémon, so I thought of combining two entities that are related to the multimedia franchise: Lorelei (who is part of Kanto's Elite Four) and her typing (Ice). While I wanted to have a uniform naming across all platforms, I found out that my current username (loreleice) has been taken by someone else on some platforms. So, I added either _arts (for Instagram, Mastodon.ART, and Pinterest) or _vt (for VTuber-related content on Twitter / X) at the end.

Motto

I wrote a motto that combines my personality and interests with a touch of my main motif:

A carefree adventurer with a penchant for fine arts, coldness, and variety.

Since I dug deep into the VTuber rabbit hole, I got inspired by the lore-infused bios that many VTubers have written on their official platforms. So, I decided to write a motto that represents myself accurately.

Personal interpretation:

Motif

I felt like integrating concepts that are often associated with my birth month (December), so I thought of adding poinsettias and Northern Hemisphere winter as my main motif for my brand. So far, I have made social media headers and blog post banners using that personal theme. Eventually, I will create different assets with my motif.

Persona

I used my real-life appearance as a basis for my online persona. Of course, I changed some aspects (especially my hair color and outfit) and added my motif there. While my full look is still yet to be revealed, here is a preview of my persona:

After four years, I feel like it is the right time for some changes in my brand.1 For now, my rebranding is still ongoing because of my busy schedule (focusing on various creative projects and personal life stuff).

  1. Apparently, the word "brand" is so connected to the commercialization of the Internet world. This term should be avoided as much as possible, especially for my activities in the personal web.
